Home Country and Metropolitan Tournaments

Many tournaments are held each year in the Melbourne metropolitan area and country Victoria. Entry forms for some of these tournaments are available at the tennis clubhouse. You can view details of Upcoming Tournaments


2010 Monash University Tennis Club Championships

March 21 from 12.45pm to 5.30pm
Mixed Doubles: Round-robin sets + finals

March 27, 28 from 12.45pm to 5.30pm
Womens Doubles — round-robin sets + finals
Mens Doubles Open — knockout

April 10, 11 from 9.45am to 5.30pm
Mens Singles Open, B and C grade — knockout
Mens Singles D grade, Womens Singles Open and B grade — round-robin + finals

Please note that tournament grades do not correspond directly to WDTA grades

Courts available for hitting up 15 minutes before events start
Wilson Australian Open tennis balls will be used for all matches

  • Trophies presented to all winners & runners-up at presentation night in August.
  • Knockout events ‘best-of-two-sets’ rubbers (automatic super tiebreak at one set each).
  • Players in knockout singles events will get at least 1 hours break between singles rubbers.
  • Round-Robin events either three or four 6-game sets or two 8-game sets, followed by finals.
  • Players may enter two singles events, the event they qualify for + Open event, provided scheduling is not adversely affected, but such players will not be guaranteed a break between rubbers in different singles events.

Starting Times and Draws

Not all matches will start 9.45am or 12.45pm. Draws & match times will be available on the club website by 5.00pm on the Wednesday preceding the event. Players may also obtain their scheduled match starting time by phoning the Tournament Director, Philip Mannes, on 0432 976 461 between 9pm & 9.30pm on the night preceding their match.

Players not ready to start their match at the scheduled time will forfeit!!!

ENTRY FEES FOR ALL EVENTS

Singles $10, Doubles $14 per pair (i.e. $7 per player)

Which graded singles event do you qualify for?

MENS OPEN SINGLES: WDTA seniors A or Ares grade, Tennis Vic Pennant grade 8 or above
MENS B SINGLES: WDTA seniors Bsp grade, Tennis Vic Pennant grade 9-12
MENS C SINGLES: WDTA seniors B grade, Tennis Vic Pennant grade 13-14
MENS D SINGLES: WDTA seniors Csp grade or below
WOMENS OPEN SINGLES: WDTA seniors Bsp grade or above, Tennis Vic Pennant grade 5 or above
WOMENS ‘B’ SINGLES: WDTA seniors B grade or below, no higher than Tennis Vic Pennant grade 6

Please note that pennant grades refer to grades pre-2010 (before consolidation of lower grades). If you’re unsure about the grade you qualify for, please email Phil Mannes at monashtennis@fastmail.fm for advice. Players unable to supply sufficient information on their playing standard may not be allowed to enter.
